What the referrer needs to open the link

When you share an exam with a referring dentist, all they receive is a link. Here's what their computer or phone needs to open it — useful info to share if they ask.

NotaThe referrer doesn't need to create an account on CBCTHub, install anything, or pay anything. Just the link and a device with a modern browser.

Compatible devices

  • Computer (Mac/Windows/Linux): with a modern browser. The ideal experience.
  • iPad / iPad Pro: Safari or Chrome. Full viewer with touch gestures.
  • iPhone / Android phone: opens the mobile viewer. Reduced functionality but enough to review.
  • Android tablet: opens the 2D mobile viewer (no 3D View or advanced oblique, due to WebGL float limitations).

The referrer's experience

  1. 1
They receive the email with the link to the exam.
  2. 2
Click the link → browser opens CBCTHub.
  3. 3
If the exam has a PIN, it asks for it. The center should have sent the PIN separately.
  4. 4
Once the PIN is entered (or if there's none), the viewer appears with the exam loaded.
  5. 5
They can view slices, reconstructed panoramic, oblique, 3D — exactly what the center sees.
TipThe first time the referrer opens a link, the browser downloads the viewer WebAssembly (~3 MB) — takes a few seconds. Subsequent times are instant.

Common referrer errors

“The exam won't load”. Usually slow connection or old browser. Ask them to try in updated Chrome, or from another device.

“It asks for a PIN and I don't have one”. The PIN is sent separately from the link (for security). Forward it via WhatsApp or another channel.

“It cuts off or freezes”. Probably insufficient RAM. Ask them to close other tabs and apps.

“I don't see 3D”. 3D View requires WebGL 2.0. On very old hardware or Android tablets it may not be available. Other views (orthogonal, panoramic) do work.

CasoTemplate message for the referrer

If a referrer asks “how do I open the link?”, you can copy this message:

Doctor, to open the exam just click the link I sent. It opens directly in the browser — no need to install anything. If it asks for a PIN, it's: XXXX. If you have any technical issue, most likely your browser is outdated — updated Chrome or Edge work perfectly. Let me know if any questions.

Sharing with a patient

Same as with a referrer, but considering the patient is not technical:

  • Clarify it's a link to their exam, not just any website.
  • Tell them they don't need to download any app — it opens by itself.
  • If there's a PIN, send it via a separate channel (not together with the link).
  • For very old phones, sending screenshots of the exam (using the viewer's capture tool) may be better than the link.
