Studies with multiple takes (TMJ, comparison)

There are clinical cases where a single patient has several CBCT series that should be grouped under the same exam. The two typical ones:

  • TMJ: closed, open, lateralities. Up to 4 takes in the same session.
  • Temporal comparison: post-surgical control vs. preoperative, treatment evolution.

How to add an additional take

    Upload the main exam as usual (first series / closed / preoperative).

    In My exams, open the exam detail (click on the row).
  3. 3
    In the detail modal there is an Add take button. Click it and upload the next series.
  4. 4
    Repeat until you have all the takes you need. Each take is labeled (you can rename it: “Closed”, “Open”, etc.).

Switch between takes in the viewer

When you open an exam with several takes, the viewer shows a side selector with all the series. Click any to load it — crosshairs and W/L are kept when possible.

Split-screen comparator

To compare two takes side by side, open the viewer and click Compare on the toolbar. Select which two series to show — the viewer places them next to each other with synchronized crosshairs.

TipUseful to show the patient or referrer the before/after of a treatment, or to evaluate condylar movement on TMJ.

Share an exam with several takes

When sharing, the referrer receives a single link. From that link they can switch between all the takes with the side selector. You do not need to send several emails.

CasoStandard TMJ study

1. Acquire the 4 takes on the scanner: closed, open, right laterality, left laterality.

2. Upload the first (closed) as the main exam on CBCTHub.

3. On the exam detail, add the other 3 with “Add take”. Label each one.

4. Open the viewer. Use the dedicated TMJ view (selector on top) to assign “Closed” and “Open” to the dual volume.

5. Write the report analyzing condylar position on each take.
