Measurements, notes and annotations

All viewer tools — measure, mark, plan — work over the image and save automatically. The next time someone opens the exam (you, a colleague, a referrer), they see everything you annotated.

Window / Level (contrast)

W/L adjusts image contrast to better see bone vs soft tissue, roots, implants, etc.

Presets: click one of the buttons (Bone, Tissue, Implant, Root) to apply standard values.

Manual: activate the W/L tool (sun icon) and drag over the image — horizontal changes width (range), vertical changes center (level).

TipIf you change W/L in one view, the other 3 sync automatically. You don't have to repeat the adjustment per slice.

Linear measurement

    Activate the Measure tool (ruler icon) or press M.

    Click on the start point → click on the end point. CBCTHub draws the line and shows the distance in millimeters.

    If the line is wrong, click one of the endpoints and drag. The measurement recalculates live.

    To delete it: click the line to select it, then Del.
NotaThe measurement label can be dragged where it does not block the image (without affecting the line itself) — useful when several measurements overlap.

Arrows, circles and notes

To point out a finding in the report:

  • · Arrow (F): point at the area. Has a base point + tip. Color is selectable and draggable.
  • · Chevron: similar to the arrow but V-shaped (better for pointing at the mandibular canal).
  • · Circle: surrounds an area. Useful for lesions or areas of interest.
  • · Note: free text over the image. Double-click to edit.
  • · Angle: three points (vertex + two arms). Shows the angle in degrees.

Virtual implant plan

On the cross-sectional slices (Panoramic view) you can place virtual implants to visualize feasibility.

    Activate the Implant tool.

    Click on the alveolar ridge in the slice. CBCTHub places a cylindrical implant with default values (length 10mm, diameter 4mm).

    Drag the tip or base to adjust angulation and depth. In the side panel change length and diameter to the right values.
ImportanteThe virtual plan is a visualization, it does not replace certified surgical planning software. It serves to evaluate feasibility and communicate with the surgeon, not for surgical guides.

Inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) tracing

In mandibular implant or third-molar cases, IAN tracing is essential.

    In the Panoramic view, open the cross-sectional slices covering the nerve path.
  2. 2
    Activate the Trace IAN tool.
  3. 3
    Identify the canal in each cross-section and click on its center. CBCTHub connects the points automatically with a curve.

    When you finish, the trace is saved and visible on all views, including the panoramic.

Annotations panel

Press N or click the right-side panel icon to open the list of all annotations on the exam. Click an annotation → the viewer jumps to the exact slice it is on.

TipThe panel is ideal when an exam has many marks — instead of finding them slice by slice, you browse them from the side list.
NotaEverything saves automatically. There is no “Save annotations” button: each change persists to the server as you make it. Closing the tab loses nothing.
