How to use cephalometry

What it is

Cephalometry in CBCTHub runs on the lateral cephalogram (conventional plate or reconstructed from CBCT). Open the Cephalometry panel in the same viewer: place or review landmarks, choose an analysis, and see measurements vs that author’s norms. Save to Analysis, send to the report, or download a PDF results sheet.

Includes Steiner, Ricketts, McNamara, Tweed, Downs, Jarabak and others; automatic landmark proposals (must review); soft-tissue profile from the skin edge when possible; Ricketts VERT when all five measures are present; tracing plate without the radiograph underneath.

  • Orthodontists and dentofacial orthopedists who trace cephs every day.
  • Radiologists who deliver a cephalometric sheet with the rest of the study.
  • Centers that want an in-browser workflow without separate desktop software.

Steps

  1. Open a lateral cephalogram
    Confirm patient name, sex, and age.
  2. Open Cephalometry in the radiograph viewer top bar.
  3. Choose the analysis (or Summary for a minimum set).
  4. Calibrate scale if the image has no millimetres; CBCT-reconstructed cephs usually bring scale.
  5. Place the landmarks — Points tab: Locate automatically or Mark manually; Correct only to review.

  6. Review results and export — Results tab: Download sheet, To Report, Save to Analysis.

Tips

  • Review every model-proposed point before signing.
  • Fill sex and age before interpreting norms.
  • Auto profile draws the skin edge only when clear.
  • Narrow screens are for review, not precise marking.
