TMJ study with dual workflow

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) studies have specific requirements: they capture closed and open positions, and sometimes lateral movements, in separate acquisitions. CBCTHub has a dedicated TMJ viewer that shows the two volumes side by side with matching orientation.

   Acquire the two captures on the scanner: closed and open.

   Upload the first capture as the main exam in CBCTHub (closed, by convention).

   On the exam detail, click Add capture. Upload the second (open).

   Label each capture accordingly (“Closed”, “Open”).

Dual TMJ viewer

When opening the exam, choose the TMJ view. The viewer splits into two side panels (Right / Left) with synchronized crosshairs.

• Assign captures to sides: there is a selector in the top header. Define which volume (closed/open) goes to the right side and which to the left.
• MIP slab: the sagittal is shown with a 10 mm MIP by default to improve condyle visualization.
• Local Orient and Crop: each side has its own orientation and crop controls to show exactly the condyle area.
• Inverted axial crop: the axial slider is inverted only in TMJ because what matters is the condyle, not the alveolar ridge.
