Crop volume vertically (Z)

When you trace a panoramic or generate a 3D, the result is sometimes cluttered by the opposite arch or irrelevant structures. The Crop Z tool lets you limit the volume height before generating the reconstruction.

When to use it

• Maxilla-only panoramic: crop the lower half of the volume so the panoramic does not include the mandible.
• Mandible-only panoramic: crop the upper half for the same reason.
• Isolate apical zone: keep only the root apices for endodontic analysis.
• Clean 3D: remove chin rest, head support or scanner support structures.

How to crop

   In the Panoramic view, before tracing the curve, click the Crop button.

   A vertical slider appears over the sagittal slice. Drag the endpoints to define the Z range you want to keep.

   Zones outside the range turn gray (they are not discarded, just visually hidden for generation).

   Click Apply. Now you can trace the curve or generate the 3D on the cropped volume.
