Your Logo on Every CBCT: Why Your Brand Matters More Than You Think

CBCTHub·July 15, 2026

The Invisible Problem Every Imaging Center Has

Ask a patient where they got their last CBCT scan, and chances are they won't remember the name of the imaging center. They'll remember the dentist who referred them. That makes the imaging center an invisible vendor: you bill well, but you never build a brand with the end consumer.

Many owners draw the wrong conclusion from this: "so let's advertise to patients." That's expensive and yields little. The right strategy is the opposite: build your brand with the person who actually decides the referral — the dentist. And the most underrated tool for that is the study itself.

How Often a Referring Dentist Sees You Each Month

Think about a dentist who refers 12 patients a month to your center. If each study gets opened 3 times on average (initial consult, treatment planning, follow-up), your brand gets 36 monthly opportunities to appear in front of that dentist. Over a year, that's more than 400 visual impressions per active referring dentist.

No Instagram campaign gives you that frequency with that exact audience. The study viewer is your most cost-effective billboard, and in most centers, it's blank.

How the Problem Shows Up With CDs

When you deliver on CD, your brand shows up (if you're lucky) on the printed sleeve, and it lasts five seconds — the time it takes the dentist to pull out the disc and load it. After that, the viewer that opens is generic, with no logo, no colors, no URL. The dentist spends 20 minutes working in that study without remembering where it came from.

What Changes With a Branded Digital Viewer

An online viewer platform lets you show your logo in the viewer header, your practice name, eventually your brand colors, and a direct phone number or text line. Every time the dentist opens the case, you're there. Your brand becomes mentally linked to the moment the dentist solves the patient's clinical problem.

That association is called brand at moment of value: you show up when you're delivering real value, not when you're interrupting. It's the highest form of advertising return there is.

Subtle Branding, Not Aggressive

Some centers overdo it and plaster the screen with branding. That backfires — the dentist wants to see the study, not your ad. The rule is constant presence, not intrusive presence:

  • A small logo in one corner of the viewer.
  • Your center's name in the browser tab title.
  • A discreet "contact the center" button that opens a text or call.
  • In the delivery email/link, a professional subject line with your brand — not "Study ready" but "XYZ Imaging Center: CBCT for [patient] is ready."

Branding the File, Not Just the Viewer

Another overlooked opportunity: the name of the file or link. If the dentist saves a link in their electronic health record, that link can carry your own domain (yourcenter.cbcthub.com or similar). Every time they return to the case, they return to your brand. When they share that link with a colleague for a second opinion, your brand travels with the study.

The Radiology Report as a Brand Asset

If your center issues a report, that PDF is a brand asset too. Consistent typography, a template with your logo, the radiologist's signature, contact information at the bottom. Plenty of centers still send reports that look like they were made in Word 2003. Modernizing the template takes an afternoon and pays off for years.

The 30-Dentist Test

Try this exercise: list the 30 dentists who refer to you most. For each one, ask yourself: what do they associate with your center when they think "CBCT"? If the answer is "not sure" or "the price," you're competing on price alone. If the answer is something specific (image quality, delivery speed, Dr. X's service), your brand is starting to exist in their head.

Where to Start This Week

  1. Run a visual audit: does your brand show up in the viewer, the link, the email, the report?
  2. Redesign the delivery email so it's professional and carries your identity.
  3. If you can't brand the viewer yet, at least brand the download portal.
